Terms of Service

The agreement between you and TwoRoofs for using the app. Written to be readable, not to hide anything.

v1Last updated August 7, 2026

This is version 1, written in plain English and pending review by an attorney before public launch. It is not legal advice.

1. What TwoRoofs is

TwoRoofs is a tool for two parents raising children across two homes. It helps you do four things:

  • Keep a shared parenting-time calendar built from a repeating schedule, holidays, and one-off changes.
  • Track shared child expenses, who paid, how they split, and the running balance between you.
  • Send messages to your co-parent in one continuous, permanent thread.
  • Keep an append-only record of what happened and when.

TwoRoofs is software. It is not a court, a mediator, a mailbox for legal service, or a party to your parenting plan.

2. We do not give legal advice

Nothing in TwoRoofs — including the app, our copy, our templates, our schedule patterns, our holiday rules, or any support reply — is legal advice.

Using TwoRoofs does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and us or anyone who works with us. We are not your lawyers.

Your parenting plan, custody order, or court decree always controls. Where TwoRoofs and your order disagree, your order wins. If you need advice about your rights, talk to an attorney licensed in your state.

3. Your records, and what we do not promise about them

Everything in your household — calendar entries, messages, expenses, receipts, and log entries — is created by you and your co-parent. We do not author it, verify it, or moderate it.

Log entries and messages are append-only by design: once created they cannot be edited or deleted. That design exists so the record stays trustworthy over time.

We make no representation that any record, export, or PDF from TwoRoofs is admissible in court, satisfies any evidentiary rule, meets any disclosure requirement, or has any particular legal effect. Whether a record can be used, and how, is up to the court and the rules that apply to your case.

Timestamps reflect when our systems recorded an action. They are accurate to the best of our ability but are not a certified or notarized attestation.

4. Your account and eligibility

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything done under your account.

Provide accurate information. If your email changes, update it in the app so account and security notices reach you.

5. Households and shared data

TwoRoofs is organized around a household. One parent creates it, then invites the other. Both parents in a household see the same calendar, expenses, messages, and log. There are no private notes and no one-sided views.

Assume anything you enter will be read by your co-parent. If you do not want them to see it, do not put it in TwoRoofs.

Because the record is shared, it is equally theirs. If you delete your account while your co-parent is still active, the household and its records remain for them, and your authorship labels stay attached to what you created. If you are the only parent left, deleting your account deletes the household and its records permanently.

TwoRoofs works fully for one parent alone. Inviting a co-parent is optional.

6. Acceptable use

Use TwoRoofs for coordinating your own family. Do not:

  • Harass, threaten, abuse, or intimidate anyone through messages or any other field.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, or that you do not have the right to share.
  • Impersonate another person, or access a household you were not invited to.
  • Attempt to break, probe, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Use the service to circumvent a court order, a protective order, or a no-contact order.

If a court has restricted contact between you and your co-parent, that order controls. Do not use TwoRoofs to reach someone you are not permitted to contact.

We may suspend or end access for a serious or repeated violation. Because records are append-only, enforcement may mean removing access rather than removing content.

7. Founders License

The TwoRoofs Founders License is a one-time purchase of $79 USD that unlocks writing and exporting for an entire household. It is per household, not per person — one purchase covers both parents.

The license lasts for the lifetime of the service: as long as TwoRoofs operates, a licensed household keeps access to the features covered by the license without a further charge. It is not a promise that the service will operate forever.

Without a license, a household can still sign up, set up a schedule, and view the calendar. Creating changes, adding expenses, sending messages, adding log entries, and exporting require a license.

The license is tied to the household and is not transferable or resellable. Founders Licenses are limited in number. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

New products or paid add-ons we may launch later are not automatically included.

8. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Your purchase is also subject to Stripe's terms.

Prices are in US dollars. You are responsible for any tax that applies to you.

9. Service changes and availability

We are actively building TwoRoofs. Features may change, improve, or be removed. We aim for high availability but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service.

You are responsible for keeping your own copies of anything you need long-term. Export your records regularly.

10. Disclaimers

TwoRoofs is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TwoRoofs and the people who work on it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost parenting time, reputational harm, or any outcome in a legal proceeding.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $79 USD, whichever is greater.

Some states do not allow certain limitations. Where that is true, these limits apply only as far as the law allows.

12. Indemnity

You agree to cover our reasonable losses if a claim arises from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms.

13. Termination

You can stop using TwoRoofs at any time and can delete your account from Settings. Deletion follows the household rules in Section 5.

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue TwoRoofs entirely, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your records.

Deleting an account does not refund or revoke a household's Founders License.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you agree to their jurisdiction.

15. Changes to these terms

If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use TwoRoofs after a change means you accept the updated terms.
